C12k made truth with his arguements about skill level when it comes to L4D. I am sort of a subject matter expert when it comes to it because I used to play play both games from launch, technically I have over 1,000 hours between them. Doesn't mean I am bad, infact when I used to play I was always considered top tier in my group. Had friends with 3,000+ hours after a couple years of game launch and I was still consider better than them and at the same time I've been with and against teams that I can't do anything.
 
As stated, CS:S and CS:GO skills does not transfer over into L4D on a 1:1 ratio. Horde, special infected and map mechanics are the main drive toward how well a player does in the game. Can you crown a witch while you are running towards her and when she is running toward you? I've seen it and that game was a slaughter because that team I was against was on a very high competitive level.
 
 
The problem:
In a couple posts I made earlier in this thread about how I have the right to bitch about that merit slot. Well here's my reason: IT FUCKING SCREAMS ARROGANCE. By two counts, "I'm a badass at L4D so I deserve merit for it and because I'm staff member I can do whatever I think is considered fair." I was trying to point that out to you discreetly but apparently I need to just say it straight.

As a contributor to the prize pool and someone who has no horse in this race, I don't understand the point of a "merit" system when it is almost impossible to determine merit without seeing all of the players in the tournament as a team on a consistent basis.
 
Would have made more sense to do a round for each team and rank based on how they did then, or randomize the seeding completely.
 
Regardless, I don't think Chosen getting the bye is as big of a deal as people are making it out to be, and I don't think he is trying to fuel his ego. He is just formulating the brackets the way he thinks is the most fair. Yeah, I think it could have been done better, but civil discussion is the best way to handle it, not bitching and moaning from some people.

Its been a fun couple of years but it must come to the end. Been staff for too long now and video games just ain't that fun anymore.

 

I will most likely pop in once every blue moon to see how things are going.

But in all seriousness, I think the time has come for me to resign. I have recently moved off to college, and although I sometimes think about sitting down and bullshitting with the crew, I just don't think I can do it anymore. I used to put in a lot of time as a staff member, but in the last 6 months or so, sG has been getting less and less dedication from my side. I had competition back then, and I had more fun around here, but there's a lot of fresh faces that I just don't connect with and bullshit around with like I could before. I've had a good run as a staff member, but I think it is time to let someone else move on up in the community (no, don't promote more people). I come on here and check the forums, but, I guess school has started and they just don't seem to entice me like before. I will pop around sometimes, and maybe I'll hop on teamspeak or steam every now and then, but that's probably the extent of my stay for now.

 

I may be back in full force in a year or so, but I think it's time to move on from gaming in general. I've done it for over 11 years, been playing counter-strike for 9 years, and I've been with sG for about 6 years. I don't think I will forget this place (as I said, I will most likely pop up here and there), and maybe I'll be back here to fuck around after I've settled into college some more, but that's doubtful at this point. I don't take gaming as serious as I used to, and that's when I found it more fun.

I'm not in this tourney for the prize, I'm in it for the tourney itself so I want a fair game from the start. So that's why I'm for a random number generator for that bye spot. Really, just need and 8th team and this wouldn't be a problem lol.

My bitching out has a purpose. I simply do not appreciate getting put on a team, being called "Team Incompetent" as I heard... because you and whomever else decided to put, in your opinion, the worst players together.

okay so back on topic, I'm not really sure what this report was for,but it brought attention to something that we might'v overlooked and that's an AFK manager. I am not in favor of having afk'ing being against the rules,in reality shit happens and sometimes we don't always have control of that. However I am in favor of adding an AFK manager to the server. I will talk to the engineers and try to see if we can work something out.
